Former Bellator middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko achieves early victory against TUF 3 winner Kendall Grove.
At the Bellator 162 event in Memphis, Tennessee, Shlemenko (54-9) had a scare in the first, when Grove (23-16) connected with a left hook and had him pinned to the fence with punches and knees.  But creative spinning attacks and a strong chin helped the 32-year old fighter to prevail.  Past the minute and a half mark of the second round, Shlemenko’s left hook into the body slammed into Grove’s liver.  Grove folded, and after receiving a right hook to the head went to the mat.  Shlemenko kept pounding with punches, forcing the referee to stop the fight.
On the same card, Bobby Lashley, a former WWE wrestling star, earned a submission victory via a rear-naked choke in the heavyweight co-main event.
